Default Great Astronomers - The Face of Selene

Now here's a place to find some great astronomers...

The Moon!

(or as i call it, "Selene")

Many great ones have craters named for them on our most
beautiful sister planet. The one who reminds me most of me
has the following crater named for him...

They made a flaming example of him to discourage the likes of Galileo!

The backside of the Moon is thought to be higher in elevation that the
side we see. This means the Moon's crust is thicker on the backside.
When the first photos were returned, scientists were surprised that the
backside didn't have dark maria like the front side and had a brighter
appearance. They think that the plateau is too high for lava to have
pushed up and filled in after crater causing collisions as it has on
the front side.
