![]() IDEA FOR PASSIVE SOLAR MEGALOPOLIS The following is an overview of an idea for plug and play space stations. Compartments are hollow units built much like a ship, shaped for launching into space with the top end being aerodynamic and having lengthwide sides angled at 157.5 degrees for a connecting pattern that forms a octagon when interconnected with others after entering orbit. The hollow end with the rockets is pointed towards the sun after the rockets are removed, and a layer of filtered glazing is raised from the wide side of the trapazoid and sealed. When eight are connected they will form a circular octagon that can be spun for gravity and a reflective shild can cover the bottom portion of the trapazoid to protect the inhabitants. The cieling in this case would be angled slightly to diffuse the filtered sunlight for hydroponic plants and inhabitants. Layers of these compartments could be lifted as their own launch vehicles and when attached form a layered gravity well. For example layer one could be .2 g, layer two could be .4g layer three could be .6g etc... until saftey limits have been reached. Each station in turn could have a structure network on the dark side holding hallways that integrate each station with the others. these stations could use piping to move heat to and from the cold dark side and the hot sunny side. Compartments could be designed to spec before lift off and integration with each station. They would basically look like networks of mechanical flowers from a distance. |

If this wheel variation did point at the Sun initially, then over the course
of a year, it would not again until the end of the year. The spin angular momentum vector is invariant intertially. Any wheel design station that attempts to use fixed solar panels on the toroid to face the Sun will have this problem. |
