Just wondering, It would seem like a priority. Are video camera's going to
examine the tiles from the shuttles robotic arm? And if so, will the video be telivised? Thanks for the info, I just don't want to miss anything. |

They just mentioned this on News-13 here in Central FL. The shuttle
will "pirouette" once it closes with the ISS so the crew onboard the space station can get a look at Discovery's ventral side. |

Thanks for the info, I just don't want to miss anything. LOL, they just got up there. Let them at least get their naps in first. Nap time starts after the 3PM burn. (I have no idea how they would be able to get to sleep so quickly after a launch though. I'd probably have to take a handful of Ambien!) |

When the crew wakes up tomorrow, they will inspect the nose cap and wing leading edges using a sensor package attached to a 50 ft boom on the end of the robotic arm. The boom is required because the arm can't reach all the areas it needs to inspect. The next day, when the shuttle reaches the station, the shuttle crew will pitch the orbiter over so that the station crew can photograph the remainder of the underside. And if so, will the video be telivised? I doubt the high-res video from the boom inspections will be televised live, but it may be replayed later. Truthfully, there won't be much to see - gray on a gray background. They will probably televise the regular arm video live, though. And I do expect the pitch maneuver will be televised from the truss cameras on ISS (though those are *not* the cameras used for the inspection). -- JRF Reply-to address spam-proofed - to reply by E-mail, check "Organization" (I am not assimilated) and think one step ahead of IBM. |

They've also been up since midnight. |
