Default Missle Mail

OK, this has got to be one of the dumbest ideas ever:

http://www.answers.com/topic/uss-barbero

I actually wish the article is a bit more in depth. Apparently, the
missle was successfully launched towards Mayport NAS, a pretty small
base near Jacksonville Florida. Using 1959 technology, it was probably
quite dangerous even if the warhead was filled with covers.

It may be a dumb idea, but it's a remarkably popular one. A Google
search gives 4960 hits for "rocket mail" and 1970 for "missile mail".
Ebay has 50 items related to rocket mail!

And what happened to the missle missives that missed?

It's an old idea, and an old scam too.

Why would it be dangerous?

If it hit something it wasn't supposed to?

In any case it wasn't a new idea. One man had tried sending mail by missiles
before, but he was a bit of a crackpot.

How many minutes to take those disks out of the rocket, unpackage
them and read the contents onto a computer?

Six months for the longshoremen to unload them, three months for the
Teamsters to get them into the office, two years for the CWA crew to
load them into the computer. You got a problem with that buddy?
