Default scope for a grand?

Just been showing some friends the night sky with my telescope. After the
initial raving and exlaming one of them, a woman, said she really wantd her
own, preferrably a computerised one - because she said, in open honesty, "I
dont want to know where stuff is, I just want to see the stuff" - and she
wants to spend up to a grand.

So, for a thousand pounds sterling, what should she buy? I have no idea...I
dont have a grand!

Guess so. Any particular brands to avoid or look for?

A secondhand LX90? It's a nice 'all in one' unit that might appeal to
your friend and it would track unlike the Dob

An ETX 125 plus an eyepiece would fit the budget and is pretty easily
manageable, but she'd probably realise that a larger aperture would be
better eventually. Celestron C8-NGT plus a few more eyepieces? Maybe an
Orion Europa on a computerised mount if such an animal exists?
