Default ON TOPIC: SAA: Dishonor, Irony, and Hypocrisy

Mr. Charles Taylor, who posts as CLT, has decided to try to punish me
for what he sees as my bad behaviour by publishing two e-mail addresses
that were previously unavailable on the Internet in machine-readable
form. He is also soliciting you, the participants in SAA, to carry out
a denial-of-service attack against my personal web site. His stated aim
is to force me to cease posting on this forum.

Mr. Taylor posted the following under Richard DeLuca's thread "(OT)
Saying Goodbye is Never Easy."

CLT wrote:
It suddenly dawned on me that Davoud has posted his webpage.
It is www.davidillig.com
His address is //deleted//
But his website lists //deleted//

As I recall, we were having a lot of trouble with Shawn until a couple
of people started posting info on the dear boy (and, IIRC, not just
Shawn)

Perhaps if everyone here downloaded every picture on Davoud's website
(just to show how much we appreciate his OT drivel) he would feel \
the love and affection we have for his callous response to a respected
member who is leaving.

Make sure you open all the links at:
http://www.davidillig.com/astronomy.shtml as we wouldn't want to miss
any of
Davoud's photos.

Of course, if his bandwidth expense suddenly increased...

Clear Skies

Chuck Taylor

Of course, if a spambot were sorting through here, it would find:

//deleted: 29 repetitions of two previously unpublished e-mail addresses.//

I believe that there is profound irony and hypocrisy in this most
mean-spirited and childish behaviour.

Mr. Taylor once issued a caution, in the Yahoo group that he moderates,
concerning the need to protect people's privacy
http://infoarchive.net/sgroup/LUNAR-OBSERVING/1131/.

It will be easy enough for me to fix any damage that Mr. Taylor may
have done. It will not be so easy for Mr. Taylor to recover his honor.

Davoud

Yes, I know Mr. Taylor's e-mail address, his home address, and his
office address; they are readily available. But to get _me_ to reveal
this information you would need to throw me naked onto a cold concrete
floor at Abu Ghraib and stomp on my testicles with your hob-nail boots.
Even then I would try to deceive you.

chuck is an asshole. it is a well known fact. if you point out a flaw
in his logic and he cant come up witha resonse (something that happens
suprisingly often) he will go after anything he can find out about you
and do whatever he can to cut you dowm. as I recall one time he did
this went after may last name: to quote him "dont listen to her, I
looked up Yamato and apparently it is the name used by the japanese
imperial family, this means she is a troll". you might also remeber the
RCX 400 naming rants he made. best thing to do is ignore him if you go
to some other forum he will probably be there too.

Oh please, spare US the maudlin melodrama! Anyone reading this group
who would take offense to your posts is already well aware of DOS
attacks and the like. Why don't you try to spend a few moments
reflecting on the actions you took to provoke such a response?

;-)

No, this is a nuke-free zone g.

I'd be happy if he'd just quit morphing. I've put him into my trollfile
several times only to find he has morphed into a new munged address, so I
have to trollfile him under that one as well. It seems to be a common troll
habit. He reminds me of Min in that way. However, I will acknowledge that
Davoud is at least an astronomer, whereas Min is just an idiot. And I guess
that is why I (and some others) have tried to get him to change --- it is
better to keep real astronomers and simply trollfile the Mins. Davoud's post
to the netloon about "working all these years, only to be beat to
publication," was one of the best of the year. I told that one to several
people. So I would have liked to find a way to keep those posts, and see him
take the political trolls somewhere else. Unfortunately, that is not to be.

As to posting his url, he has it at the bottom of all his messages. I doubt
it is going to hurt him, but I got tired of watching people ask him to knock
it off, only to see him react as a bull does to the red cape. It is an "I'm
above the rules here" type of attitude. Yes, some will see my post in the
same way. But to be honest, the only way my post would hurt him is if
hundreds of people here were equally ****ed off at him. It may get his
attention, but it isn't going to hurt anything other than his ego. (And
since I didn't see the first post in this thread, I'm guessing it was his,
and it did get his attention. g) I've worked for decades with
disturbed/delinquent youth and developed the attitude that you speak
quietly if you can, but you raise your voice when you need to.

However, since I doubt he'll ever quit posting his OT diatribes, I'll be
happy if he just quits morphing, and stays in the trollfile. I'm sure he'll
be able to block my posts, and I won't change my munged address
(which is munged for spam purposes, not to hide --- we're all too easy
to track down if someone wants to find us) so that it will be easier for
him or anyone else who wants to block me.

Hmmm, as I type this another thought comes to mind (wow, two thoughts within
24 hours of each other!). It is a modest proposal that those who can't
resist making political, religious or similar OT comments would simply mark
it as OT in the subject line. Or, they could agree to use as
their munged address when making those posts. In a similar manner, there is
a binaries group that includes "astro" in the subject line of all on-topic
posts. It makes it easy to filter out the spammers. This way Davoud and
others could post political or religious trolling, and no one would see it.
And, they would still be able to make the on-topic posts people want to see.
They could allow themselves to be selectively trollfiled.

By the way, your Mac-produced home page is producing an "object
expected" error at Line 26 when viewed with IE 6.0, SP2. You may want
to take a break from your off-topic posting and fix that error for the
two-thirds of the world that uses IE.

CLT:

You are implying that I have changed my e-mail address with some
frequency. Mr. Taylor, that is simply untrue. I already told you that
due to an error on my part I had made some posts that did not contain a
valid e-mail address. I further apologized to you for that period when
my posts did not contain a valid e-mail address.

As to posting his url, he has it at the bottom of all his messages. I doubt
it is going to hurt him,

You didn't simply post my URL, davidillig.com. You posted two e-mail
addresses that, to my knowledge, have never appeared on the Internet in
machine-readable form. And you posted them a total of 31 times in a
single message. That was despicable, dishonorable, juvenille, and
hypocritical.

but I got tired of watching people ask him...

So look the other way.

It is an "I'm above the rules here" type of attitude...

You have an "I make the rules here" attitude. You make your rules, I'll
make mine.

Yes, some will see my post in the same way...

Indeed. There are eighteen e-mails in my inbox condemning your action.

I've worked for decades with disturbed/delinquent youth...

The condition must be contagious.

However, since I doubt he'll ever quit posting his OT diatribes...

You are not fit to lecture me on OT diatribes or on any other subject.

So, you think any response is always acceptable provided some
provocation is logged? Well that would certainly explain and forgive
9/11 then.

Interesting that you used "US" rather than "us".

The moral high ground seems remarkable for its inclination and extreme
topography.

What a very strange world we all inhabit.
