Default MSC --> JSC

About 1973.

Shortly after 'Cape Kennedy' went back to 'Cape Canaveral.'

Quick search couldn't find the exact date that the name change took place.
Sure I read it somewhere. Any one know?

17 Feb 1973. That's when Nixon signed the order for the name change.

Just for your information, LaToya, the reason why nobody will ask Henry for
a verifiable reference is because he's earned the respect of the other
readers, he *would* provide it if asked without once saying "Congressional
Record" or "National Archives", and he has long since provided relevant
credentials that have been checked out. Even better, if he says you are
wrong, he provides the data to support his claim, nearly always *at the time
he says it*. If he says you're wrong, you don't need to ask him for the
evidence because he provides it.

That's why the "I Corrected Henry" T-shirt Award was created- in the history
of Usenet, fewer people have earned shirts than went to the moon.

If *Henry* had said he had contacted law enforcement about Apollo 1, he
would have provided the names, jurisdictions, contact numbers and *badge
numbers* at the time he mentioned the contact. I, and others, take Henry's
word for stuff because what he says has checked out often enough that he's
earned that trust.

The people you are arguing with *built the rockets* you're whining about. In
my case, I just typed contracts so the rockets could get built, and I
prepared materials to
be sent to the contractors, including a lot of circuit diagrams and so
forth. I was mostly assigned to the backup power supply for ISS emergency
lighting system, which required whole forests to be slaughtered. While I
have some technical background, enough to understand blueprints and some of
the technical matters I processed, I don't claim any special expertise.
Therefore, if I were to make some claim about Apollo 1, almost always
someone would be justified in asking for a reference. I've been here for
many years, and I've made a few minor contributions, so for the most part
I'm tolerated. I've been able to answer a few questions, and on rare
occasion I've been corrected.

What I *didn't* do when I arrived was treat everybody like children and
announce that I knew more than they did, then whine, argue and throw red
herrings when it was shown quite decisively that you knew a great deal less
than you thought.

You have still failed to answer a simple question: What is it that you want
here?

....Is that a correct estimate? I know as the Awarder of the T-Shirts I
never did keep track of all the ones that were given away. Hell, I
can't even recall how I got the one *I* received. But ISTR that the
number was slightly more than the number of people who've been to the
Moon.

If you count moon-walkers, I'd agree. If you include folks who went around
the Moon, it might be closer.

Agreed. The one I was awarded (it was actually shared with "Wolfshadow")
was when Henry was going into some fine points on the X-15 project and
referred to the total of 12 pilots. I corrected that as there were only 9
X-15 pilots in total. However, that was of no consequence to the points
that were being made by Henry. So really, a lot of the supposed
ICH-T-Shirts are dressed up nit-picks

Note to self:
Read post before pressing Send.

Correction: Henry said 9, I said 12.

I guess the T-Shirt goes back into the warehouse for that!
Please overlook the hydrazine stains.
