Default OT- you've GOT to be kidding...

Okay...it's just your average French Pre-W.W. I jet-powered VTOL
asymmetric aircraft. And the loons actually built one.

I'm surprised that you didn't go for the Rotating-Bag Dirigible,
myself.
And I wouldn't mind a Bel Geddes #4, as long as Barbara Bel Geddes was
in the Hot Tub. (Deck 6, aisle 4, behind the Lobster Pound and just
before the brewery.)

I thought I would never see a flying machine (that actually got built)
stranger looking than a BV-143 asymmetrical reconnaissance plane:

.....I was dead wrong; if I had seen a photo of that French monstrosity
without any explanation as too what it was supposed to do, I would
probably not known that it was intended to fly... it looks like some
sort of giantantic hedge trimming device/super leaf-blower.

Way too normal...you could actually tell that one was designed to fly by
looking at it...that wasn't the case with the photos of the French one:
http://home.att.net/~dannysoar2/gyroptereBW2.jpg
http://modelbox.free.fr/photoscopes/...R_lac_face.JPG ...I
notice the poor fool...er... "pilot" seems to be thinking things over
prior to "takeoff"...with good reason:
http://modelbox.free.fr/photoscopes/...PR_takeoff.JPG ... I'll
bet the spectators were laughing about this for years...maybe even
decades...later.

Nice, but no Kim Novak... (Vertigo)

I wonder if they made a version with the fuselage on the right for missons
needing a good sight to the left. (Just kidding)

Actually, the reason for the asymmetry was supposed to be to maximize
the view of the pilot and observer on recon missions; and against all
odds the plane flew fairly well by all accounts...but pilots laughed at
it, and so the FW-189 won the competition.

Fantastic! You know, maybe this thing could fly after all, with a bigger
engine...

The same might be said for this:

.....but that's no reason to try it.

Urgh! NO!
It's never a good idea to sit in front of a giant and propelled french
fry cutter.
However, the maple seed gyrocopter design is sleek. It would look good
on the deck of Captain Nemo's Nautilus.
