Default wasteful government spending??

Sorry, but that's how I see the latest probe sent up that's going to crash
into a comet. A huge cost for something like that! I can't see how
something like this can be justified other than NOT doing it at all in the
first place. Yes, there is a lot of wasteful spending out there, but this
probe is just so blatantly obvious!

[ ] Take down your web site, it's not very good

Suggested other activities besides trolling...
[x] Posting something constructive

Yeah, wrong Shawn. Umm... I think. Sorta funny, but on the other hand,
your antics don't exactly help this forum to be a better place to
interact with others, now do they? But then again, usenet is probably a
lost cause... I guess I know that, but wish it weren't so. Oh well.

Really is the wrong Shawn, Craig (check google groups with my e-mail
addy). I'm sorry you don't seem to agree with the serious part of my
reply to the OP, and consider it inappropriate to this forum.
Even though I too suspected a troll, I included the second part of my
response for the consideration of those in the group who's first
response to the troll might be "Yeah that is a waste...".

Well, whomever you are that sort of response pretty much makes you a
troll regardless...

Ba-bye!

Save your ASCII, Shawn . You've just been greeted by the resident
"Usenet sucks" whiner.

Pay him no attention and perhaps he'll abandon Usenet again (for the
umpteenth time.)

I just hope his personal killfile filter on me has not expired -- he
likes to bloviate on all that is wrong with most everyone and
everything on Usenet. For reasons he's evidently totally unaware of,
it's wickedly funny stuff.

Craig, if you're reading this, I wish you much happiness in this new
year. Lighten up, pal, you'll live a longer and healthier life.

And to the OP, by definition, virtually all government spending
involves waste. Governments are most excellent spenders but very poor
buyers. And I can say as much with something more than a casual
perspective as over the years I've provided goods and services to an
assortment of government agencies.

However, intentionally crashing a spacecraft is a heckuva lot better
than doing so unintentionally, eh? Besides, this controlled crash is
pregnant with some very worthwhile science.

Indeed.

Thanks John. I'm sure I've read plenty of Greg's posts. I didn't recall
him being all that troll like, but there's lots of competition out there.

Greg is not a troll--at least, not in the usual sense. But I think
his troll-meter is calibrated a tad to the sensitive end. I think he
has said in the past that this is because he has been worn down by
flame wars. But most people respond to that experience by simply
becoming inured and troll-resistant. Hope he manages to do that.

I really enjoyed the hollow gesture where you appear to care about me
and my happiness. Added that so you wouldn't seem like such a
humorless, insensitive, grudge-holding jerk eh?

Curious--why do you go to all the trouble to keep your posts from being
cached by Google? Ashamed?

I'm laughing at you. And to think you responded seriously to the
obvious troll! Ha! I'm dying here! Perhaps the funniest part of all
is that you think I have no sense of humor. Now that's truly funny!
But I'm sure you won't get that either.

Oh well.

Shawn

Umm... I mean Craig, err... Greg.
