Default Observatory Completed and Named

I have named my observatory the Upton Farm Observatory (UFO) in honor
of my late father-in-law's farm.

I have completed virtually all of the work that can be done before
winter, and the observatory is ready for use*. I installed the carpet,
the pier, the wedge, and, finally, the telescope, on Wednesday,
November 17.

Please see http://www.davidillig.com/observatory14.shtml for the
final work. The story begins he

*I took advantage of a long spell of clear weather to complete the
exterior details such as caulking. The clouds rolled in as I tightened
the last bolt that attaches the telescope to the wedge on the afternoon
of November 17. As this is written, November 22, there is no relief in
sight.

That is a sweet set up! I hope to build an observatory in the next few
years, probably a roll off roof. But there is something magical about a
dome; you're very fortunate to have found one.
