With the arrival of those scopes, you pray for rain.

The CT scopes barely work when it's clear. They have a trivial effect on
the weather. Maybe Orion got a big shipment?

I recently moved into an apartment complex. Last Friday, I set up my 5" Mak
in the common area, looking at the Moon. I was hoping to attract and meet
some of the other residents. We had pleasant temperatures, good seeing, and
lots of people moving about. In an hour and a half, I got four souls that
actually risked approaching the weirdo to look through his infernal device.
A lot more gave me a quick glance, and scuttled hurridly away.

I tried the same thing tonight in the same place. Cold, windy, seeing lousy
at first, but inproving to so-so. This time I got over a dozen in the first
15 minutes. I even had a couple of the local cats check me out while I was
setting up. Perhaps the weekend storm changed the negative ion level or
something.

Department store scopes are too cheap to impact the weather. The length of
cloudy weather is inversely proportional to the square of the worth of the
scope purchased.
