quoted, in part: There is also a more tangible piece of New York on Mars. On each rover, a curved piece of metal the size of a credit card and adorned with the American flag was cut out of debris from the World Trade Center. The Honeybee engineers obtained a box of twisted metal from the city. Mr. Bartlett recalled the smell - "that acrid electrical fire smell" - when they opened it. Tom Myrick, Honeybee's chief engineer, flew down to Texas with a piece of aluminum from the box. At the machine shop they employ there, the metal was turned into shields to protect cables on the drilling mechanisms. Until now, that knowledge has remained within the mission team. "It was intended to be a quiet tribute," Mr. Gorevan said. "Enough time has passed. We want the families to know." It is a shame that this had to be kept quiet for so long, because some people would see it as a violation of the peaceful nature of space exploration. Where's the aggression in flying with a piece of a collapsed skyscraper? Al-Qeada might concievably bitch, but that'll carry zero weight with anyone. Because America cannot ever be a member of the sacred club of victimhood. Even the very idea is contrary to Doctrine. And thus contrary to Truth, and Fact. Consequently, evidence supporting such must be suppressed, destroyed, and ignored. It cannot exist. Therefore it does not exist. America is and always shall be "The Oppressor", "The Agressor", "The Imperialist", and "The Great Satan", amen. |

..... Should the american flag be removed from the Moon?...
I think we should all campaign for this. While they're there collecting the flag, they could do some science - Which would be a longer-lasting commemoration of the Moon landings. Now - how can we fool them into thinking that Hubble is all that stands between us and world terrorism? |
