It's 3:50 pm in La Jolla and I see "sucker holes" to the west moving at high
speed.

Fingers crossed.

And from NY, the weather and skies are....timpani....glorious! I'm
heading up to midtown where we'll be watching off the roof of a
40-story building.

Aren't you going to watch the World Series and see some real action??

*If* the weather holds this will be one of the first semi-major events
we haven't been excluded from.

Best wishes for clear skies and/or jumbo-sized sucker holes wherever
you are!

About an hour to go and the sky is still completely cloud covered. Dammit.

The world series is over. Boston is just too lucky this time around.

I bet the Dodgers could have beat them, though.

Well, the High Mojave Desert screwed me again!!!

First it stayed cloudy all day, even dumping more rain on us about 3:30pm, I
fixed supper at 4pm after looking out and seeing just more clouds. THEN at
5:30pm the Desert pulled it's bag of jokes out and with a wave of it's sands
the clouds broke and just plain went away, I didn't have time to load the
wagon and get up to the corner, instead the moon came up with just a bit
taken out of it.

The moon is now sitting in a clear cold sky, no wind, all red in color
giving a good show for itself and I'm stuck at home.

Should have remembered that the Desert dose things it's own way and no one
elses way.

No eclipse in S.Cal tonight, total WASH OUT.

Saw the start of totality at 7:23 pm local time from Carmel Ranch area, north
part of San Diego, as the low level cumulus scud drifted by. Quite dark
appearance as the moon went into totality.

I took a chance, and was glad that it paid off, despite the rain.

Right. And if the Pads had snagged Steve Finley, they would have beat the
Dodgers...

Sorry to say, the NL west was second tier this year...

Thank you all in San Diego for holding onto the clouds and rain for just
another day -- perfect skies in the east part of Tucson. Odd that the far
northwest side of Tucson was cloudy. !

Although I've seen a million lunar eclipses (ok, maybe 15 or so since around
1960), they still fascinate me.
