NASA Public Affairs Commentator, 11:39 a.m., January 28, 1986:

"We have a report from the Flight Dynamics Officer that
the vehicle has exploded."

Interpretation by Roger Balettie:

"The Ascent FDO that day was passing along a visual
report from the Range Safety Officer."

*I* know the STS-51L Ascent FDO. You... do not.
