Hi. I live in the Boston area and was wondering if there's anywhere I can
get involved in volunteer work associated with astronomy. At one point I was thinking of setting up a "sidewalk astronomers" club in Boston, but I don't know how many people with telescopes would be interested. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, ACG P.S. Game 4 (or is it 5) of this year's World Series will provide proof that God likes baseball. He figured: "Apparently the humans of Boston and St. Louis support their teams by painting things red. Well, I can show MY support by painting the moon..." |

Andrew- As someone pointed out below, there is ATMoB. There is also a club up in Groveland, if that's closer to you http://www.nsaac.org/ I'm a member of NSAAC, and we do school star parties as well as opening up observatories for two small colleges in the area each month (Salem State and Merrimack College). The need for volunteers to help in these areas is always there, so, yes, there are plenty of opportunities for you in NSAAC. I suspect it's the same with ATMoB. Chris Nicholl |

The Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (http://www.atmob.org/index.html) run or help out at several star parties in an average month, mostly at neighborhood schools. - Tony Flanders |
