Default UK - Television

If you live in the UK I urge you watch Horizon tonight on BBC 2, 9 PM. It's
on for 50 minutes covering the Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn.

I live in the USA Lloyd and do not get BBC channel selections,
but thanks for the notice. Perhaps if London calling were made available
via cable to us Yanks we could see what Nasa shows us from a different
perspective. On USA pay cable we do get some British news reports and
stock market activity but no local listings. Can you receive any of our
broadcasted local programs? It does seem unfair in these modern times
with satellites since Darla our alien queen and crew says they can tap
into any of ours from their reported advantage point in outer space.

Excellent programme. I liked the female saturn expert, she really
conveyed the wonder that can be felt for scientific pursuits. A new
Carl Sagan perhaps? I also loved the shots of the scientist and his
"Urey-Miller" experiment. I did that experiment as my A-level project
many moons ago, and it actually worked! I didn't create life, I hasten
to add, 'just' some amino acids in some orange coloured sludge (Unless
amino acids leaked in from somewhere...it was only A level...I
remember the shade of orange I got was similar to the shots of
Titan...far out).

So we can spend Xmas/New Year wondering if we'll see creatures
floating in seas of ligher fuel, or hanging out at flows of
water-as-lava. Happy new year!

Very good, but I would have preferred a program *after* the mission showing
thier findings as opposed to a lot of people guessing what might be there.
That's what Horizon did with the Uranus and Neptune Voyager encounters.

Because that's what they were. Cassini's primary mission won't end for
five years, IIRC. A programme as late as January 2005 might have to
cover the horrible fact of Huygens failing, if it does.
This way we get a lot of optimism, and we should get a follow-up next
year.

Hey Nightbat,

We get allot of US programs on sky but I haven't seen many US produced
programs on astronomy.

It was a great program and I thought I knew allot on the Cassini mission but
I learned one or two things I didn't know. If you guys ever have the chance
to watch it over sea's it's worth watching mate.

Thanks for the info Lloyd, and it still seems unfair we don't
get to see each others full programing with all our modern satellite
transmission relay ability. I never did get a chance to visit England
even while in the service but do hope to someday. Thanks again for the
info and clear skies.
