Default Do these eBay auctions appear fishy to you.

3841673381

3841669781

Both auctions by 2 sellers that just set up new eBay accounts on the same day.

The auctions end within 30 mins of each other.

A website picture is used rather than a pic of the actual scopes.

Descriptions seem cut and pasted.

Just an observation.

Looks like a fish, smells like a fish, is a fish.

First clue zero feedback, second clue copied description ( real listing
would have comments by owner of scope ).
I don't bid unless feedback ( what person SOLD ) is minimum 25, and member
for 1 year.

Mark,

So us folks who use Astromart to sell an item or two every year, rather than
adopting the hobby of buying and selling astronomy equipment, are pretty
much S.O.L.

Only if mark is your only possible buyer.

What I do in eBay cases is to contact the seller, explain that I am
concerned about his not having sold much, and asking if he has a web
page, whether he has posted to Yahoo groups or Usenet, etc. Most
sellers appreciate my concern about whether they are scam artists.

Guy,

I certainly understand the concerns folks have with dealing with someone
they do not know, and the ratings on Astromart are a big help in alleviating
such concerns. There are, as you nicely explain, other ways to make
transactions safer.

What surprises me on Astromart is the number of folks who are constantly
buying and selling stuff, to the the point that it seems a hobby in itself.
I suspect some folks just like equipment and trying as much stuff as
possible. Other folks may well be trying to make a little extra cash along
the way.

Clear skies, Alan

Dear lmichael600,

Why don't you try astromart....it will sell in a few minutes at probably a
higher price. Your lack of history and what may be too low a final price is a
deterrent.
