Default Which Powermate should I take?

Hello,

Ihave decided to buy a Televue Powermate for my LXD55 SN10. Actually I've
found that the 2.5X and the 5X are being sold for the same price $168. What
are the differences (except for magnification) and which one is better for
my scope?

Thanks a lot,
Franc

The one that does not end up in the empty magnification range, when combined
with your existing ep's for high magnification viewing.

chose the 2.5x. The sn10 being a low focal ratio (f4?) already suffers
from coma and chromatic aberation, so a more powerful barlow would
only increase this. Personally, were it me, I would opt for a field corrector
before any barlow, especially since at f4 with that scope you are not going
to get great resolution at high magnification anyway. At least with a field
corrector you will get tighter and sharper images, wide field. If you are
looking for magnification with decent images, you will have to get a scope
of at least f/6 or up - on the cheap side a C8 ota or more expensive a
6" mak.
