Default Tasco refractor

I've just had a phone call from my uncle who says he has a Tasco refractor
that he can give me! He said it was £80 but didn't know any more details
about it, other than it's about 2 foot long!

I wonder if it will be any good? What will I be able to see do you think? I
am saving for a decent scope, but I'm not going to look a free telescope in
the object glass!

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Lucy

My understanding are that Tasco are one of the cheaper scope's on the market
and as the old saying goes - you get what you pay for.

What you can see will depend on it's aperture, light pollution and the
'seeing' on the night you take it out, amongst other things. I would guess
that it is this scope:

Still, for free you can't complain

If it doesn't have a mount I would invest that money in a decent (Tracking
if you want to try a spot of astro-photography)

At the risk of shameless self-promotion, there is info on serious
astronomy you can do with this class of scope in:

Any advice welcome.

You may find some of the "upgrade" advice here useful:

Stephen
