IN Roger Berry's book, I'm looking at what parts I need for my 4" reflector.
I'm somewhat confused by his terminology, in particular, what is a 12" nipple and a 1.5" short or close nipple Personally I would refer to a 1.5 inch nipple as being pretty long, and as for 12", well taht doesn't bear thinking about ! And what;s a box of 3/4 " wire brads ? |

Here is a page with a picture of a brad nail:
http://www.kaymo.com/industrial/industrial_pb.htm Not sure about the nipple since I don't know what context it is being used in. "Dr DNA" wrote in message ... Hi Dr DNA
"Dr DNA" wrote in message ... Not sure about the nipple since I don't know what context it is being used in. Basically its describing part of the stand for the telescope. There is a 1.5 diameter,12 inch pipe, at the end of which is screwed on a t piece, which has threads at all 3 ends. From what I can make out the 12 inch pipe is the nipple. The short 1.5 inch nipples are short threaded pipes that screw into the t-piece at one and and flloor flanges at the other end. So is a nipple just a threaded pipe ? Just been looking at pages 57 & 58 and that looks so. Good luck with your scope. Neil -- P.S. Please remove the obvious from the address to reply |

Ta I've jsut had to spend a good hour finding an imperial to metric conversion chart, and converting all the screw, nut and bolt sizes too. Joy of joy, better be worth it lol ! ANy idea where I can get the 1.5" nipple pipes from ? |

A wire brad is therefore what we would call a "panel pin". (Brads over here usually refers to cut nails, such as flooring brads -- these are cut from metal plate, as opposed to being made from wire) Best, Stephen Remove footfrommouth to reply -- + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Stephen Tonkin | ATM Resources; Astro-Tutorials; Astro Books + + (N51.162 E0.995) | http://astunit.com + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + |
