Default Starry Night Backyard 3.1 on PC Pro cover disk

This months PC Pro (April 2004) has Starry Night Backyard 3.1 on the cover
disk. Okay it not as good as the latest version (4.5) but you can't really
complain for £3.50.

Torc uttered:

....and last week had Starry Night on the cover disc of MacUser
magazine.

I do like PCPro though - good coverage of MS/PC issues, SCO, Linux and
MacOSX to boot.

You should be thankful you live in an old-fashioned country; it's nearly
Christmas here...

Yes. It one of those strange publishing tricks where every magazine
races to be the first to have their month N+3 magazine on the stands
before the end of month N. It is getting pretty silly. It is a bit like
the old problem with the Julian calendar and seasonal drift - but not as
subtle...

It seems to be accelerating too. Before long we will have the Christmas
specials out for August Bank Holiday.

Regards,

Regards,

Yep, it's a joke!

I read in a letter in one magazine from some reader asking why they did
it. The reply, when all the weasel words were removed, was that if one
does it they all have to!

Something to do with us, the magazine buying public, being so terminally
stupid that we think that just because magazine 'X' has April on the
front when it's only December means the info is more up to date than a
rival magazine, published at the same time, that January on their cover.

Truely bizarre!
