I wondered if anyone could help with this-
What I'd like to be able to do is get a view from my observing position of the night sky, as you would get in any of the astronomy programs such as Starry Night, but then I want to be able to "fly" my viewpoint anywhere in the Solar System to view the setup from different angles etc. Is there anything out there that can do this? Thanks, - Michael |

Orbiter URL:http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html is a Microsoft Windows based spaceflight simulator that has a "planetarium mode" of sorts. You might find that interesting. -- Dave Pearson http://www.davep.org/ |

Guide 8 (www.projectpluto.com) will do this and also allow you to ride Pioneer past Jupiter and Saturn :-) -- Rabbit arithmetic - 1 plus 1 equals 10 Remove spam and invalid from address to reply. |

(http://www.planetpluto.com) The URL should be: http://www.projectpluto.com Are you sure about "flying" to other locations in the solar system? I'm not an expert on all of Guide's capabilities but this just doesn't sound like the sort of thing you can do with it. I should not post when I've just got home from a 4-hour finance meeting! Are you sure about "flying" to other locations in the solar system? Yes. You can set your location to another planet (or natural satellite thereof) or the Sun quite simply: Settings - Location - [select from list at the top of the dialogue box] Best, Stephen Remove footfrommouth to reply -- + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Stephen Tonkin | ATM Resources; Astro-Tutorials; Astro Books + + (N51.162 E0.995) | http://astunit.com + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + |

But I believe the poster was asking for something mo the ability to simulate "flying" from one location to another. The "fly" was in quotes, and he mentioned different viewpoints, which I took to be the "important" part of his request -- Guide permits these different viewpoints.
