Default Trying to get started in Astro Photography

Hello,

My wife and I would like to get started in simple astro-photography,
and we're a little confused as to what we need initially.

We would like to start with some pictures of the Moon. We have a copy
of "Astrophotography for the Amateur", second edition by Michael
Covington, and after going through that, we think we want to start with
prime-focus photography.

We have a Meade ED127 APO refracting telescope (5") and a Canon EOS
Digital Rebel (300D) camera.

I think we need the Canon EOS T-Ring (Meade part number 701-41030)
and a 2" camera adapter (Meade part number 701-40020).

We hope that by getting started, we'll gain enough experience to
know what questions to ask and move further with the hobby.

Other than experience, are there other things we'll need to snap
that first photo?

The T-Ring fits into the camera's lens mount, and the Camera Adapter
then fits into the telescope's draw tube?

Thanks for any help and advice,
