I switched from foam to the Reflectix material (which can be bought at most
major hardware stores). It is basically sort of an aluminized mylar bubble
wrap. It is extremely lightweight, highly insulative, very rigid on the
scope, and yet rolls up (I use an old folding chair bag to store it). I
lined the inside with felt.

When I switched to it I found that my dew heaters ran very well with far
less power (I use a DewBuster, so I can somewhat track the efficiency of
the setup).

I like the AstroZap aluminum/felt-lined shields, pricey, but acts as a
counterweight for those heavy 2" eyepieces ...

Hi:

I tend to agree. I wouldn't mind having one of those fancy aluminum Astrozap
babies, but haven't yet convinced myself to pay the $$$. Maybe I will
eventually. ;-)

It saved me from buying a $75.00 counterweight set, but it does act like a
sail if the wind is blowing hard ...
