Any suggestions for a good book about Galileo?

Hi:

One of the best and most interesting reads I've had in a long time was Dava
Sobel's _Galileo's Daughter_.

Are your reading or writing? If the former, I suggest looking at
_Galileo's Daughter_ by Dava Sobel. I also suggest a visit to
amazon.com with a search for Galileo under "books." In many cases you
will find reviews by persons who have read the book in question. You
may, of course judge the review for yourself.

And you haven't forgotten your public library, have you?

If the latter, I can't help.

great idea.

The public library is where I get almost all my books. But I can still go to
Amazon to get reviews. The Sobol book looks like a good possibility. I'm
interested in his "life and times". A lot of my interest stems from recently
reading "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown.

I enjoyed The Sleepwalkers by Arthur Koestler - the story of Copernicus,
Kepler and Galileo.

"Galileo" by Colin A. Ronan is an old standard (published in 1975 by G.P.
Putnam's Sons, New York, reviewed by Owen Gingerich in Sky and Telescope
March, 1975 pages 175-7).
