Default A restless night in Antwerp: Diamond Star too big for even Liz Taylor

John Steinberg:

...The second remarkable Valentine discovery is a diamond star located 50
light-years away in the constellation Centaurus. To get your favorite
lady the galaxy's largest diamond will require a deep wallet, because
this 10 billion trillion trillion carat monster has a cost that's
literally astronomical!

"You would need a jeweler's loupe the size of the Sun to grade this
diamond!" says CfA astronomer Travis Metcalfe, who leads a team of
researchers that discovered the giant gem. "Bill Gates and Donald Trump
together couldn't begin to afford it."

If Bill Gates couldn't buy it he'd make a deeply flawed imitation. 95%
of the people would be fooled, but the Rest of Us would still recognize
the Real Thing.

It would also be prone to catching sun spots from -other- stars, and
would require regular patching in a futile attempt to stop this from
happening.
