Default SETI screensaver

SETI wouldn't cause a problem like that as far as I know... SETI doesn't make
any changes to system configuration or IE settings.
What you should do is reinstall the SETI screensaver (make sure that you get it
from the main site... anyplace else might have unwanted extras included in
there) and check the IE settings for encryption. Make sure that all the
encryption options are checked (SSL 2.0 and 3.0 & TLS 1.0). Maybe someone else
disabled secure connections on your computer or something.
Try that and see if it works... if nothing else, you can get the CLI (I
recommend it) which won't make any changes and takes barely anything for
configuration. If it still does the same thing while using the CLI version,
then it's something that I wouldn't even be able to guess at.
But, let us know what happens on here and we'll see what we can do for ya.
