Why must they always (the comet probe being the latest victim)conclude their
often inaccurate news clips with phrases like: "It could help us solve the secrets of the universe!" Or with some such child-like cliche? This is almost as bad as when reporters try to ask scientists questions off the cuff. -Rich |

Yes, I'm surprised that Spirit made a good landing on Mars since NBC reported
Saturday night that the landing was risky since the lander would be traveling at 12,000 miles an hour... jt Why must they always (the comet probe being the latest victim)conclude their often inaccurate news clips with phrases like: "It could help us solve the secrets of the universe!" Or with some such child-like cliche? This is almost as bad as when reporters try to ask scientists questions off the cuff. -Rich |

OK, I understand that the news do not have to be on a high technical level, but at least on NASA TV, the journalist should not supply comments as this one: "So, the connection speed with the rover now is only 40 bps - this is about as fast as a dialup modem." - Alex |

It took the guy he was interviewing about 3 attempts to get across to that dim bulb that liquid water was on Mars in the past, when conditions were different. |
