Has anyone had any experience running SkySafari in ART? This is becoming the new run time, so I wondering how reliable it would be. ART is suppose to be faster than Dalvik, so maybe a performance boost?

Still into that weird ****, I see. You want a performance boost? Run it
under iOS.

I am not asking about if I should switch to iOS. I am just seeing if anyone has any experience running SkySafari under the new ART run time. I would like to know of there are any issues such as force closes or if it runs smooth.

My phone and tablet are both set to use ART. I can't say that I really
saw any difference in actual performance. SkySafari ran smoothly
before I changed the default, and seems the same afterward.

As is often the case with modern hardware and software, many of the
enhancements that are designed to improve performance are more likely
to show up in benchmarks than they are to be readily apparent in
ordinary use.

Do you see some sort of performance issues with SkySafari? On my phone
or tablet, it seems to do everything without noticeable delays. I'm
not sure what better performance would look like.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Chris!

I was mainly concerned about stability and less about performance other then not freezing or hiccups. Both my phone and tablet will be updated to lollipop in the near future, which run full time ART, so I wanted a good idea that I wouldn't have any issues from my favorite astronomy app.

I've had no stability issues at all. Both my tablet (Nexus 10) and
phone (Nexus 5) are rock solid in general, and I've never had
SkySafari crash. If there are any concerns about the Lollipop update,
I don't think ART is one of them.
