Back in the day, one could get a killer plate of bangers and mash there. Washing it down with a bottle of Toby's was always a satisfying experience. King Greene's Olde Suffolk and Fuller's London Pride come to mind. They're OK, but are not the best. If you're ever over here again, seek out some of the offerings from the small independent breweries. My favourite, in the days before I decided to eschew ethanol as a relaxant, was Ringwood Best Bitter. My advice, stay away from refractors, too hard to use ergonomically and the
aperture is too small for anything but the moon, Jupiter, and a few Messier objects. Keep aperture to at least 8" in reflector or CAT. Try to go with f/6 or greater on newtonians to avoid collimation problems (which I'm having now with my f/4.9). CATs are generally not considered "starter" scopes because of price, but their electronic features can encourage more use. No-one really wants to fiddle with setting circles in the dark anymore. --Eric "Stephen Tonkin" wrote in message ...
