Default Celestron kit - good deal?

Hello, what do you think about this, would you consider it a good
deal, cheap stuff, usless, or what?

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=photo

Five superior-grade 1.25-inch Plössl eyepieces: Four-element design
with a 52-degree AFOV, superb color, resolution, edge sharpness, and
clarity. All eyepieces are fully multicoated for maximum contrast and
resolution. Supplied eyepiece sizes: 4mm, 6mm, 9mm, 15mm, and 32mm.
Barlow 2X lens: Complements the Plössl eyepieces and gives you a total
of 10 power combinations. The highest-grade glass optics with fully
multicoated lenses are used, so there is no degradation of image.
Six colored eyepiece (planetary) filters: Included are Kodak Wratten
Nos. 12, 21, 25, 56, 58A, and 80A. Since all the eyepieces necessary
to study the planets and moon in detail are provided, these filters
will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the solar system.
Moon filter: A neutral-density filter that allows you maximum
enjoyment of the moon, especially during the brighter phases.
Aluminum carrying case: This sturdy and well-built case fits all of
the above items in its die-cut foam interior with room for additional
accessories.

Add the 25mm Plossl that come with every scope ever made it seems and you will
havenot only a set of decent quality eyepieces but a barlow, some filters and a
case to boot.

A good starter set at a great price, pretty hard to beat. This set is supposed
be bought only with a scope but Amazon seems to sell them alone anyway.

This is a good buy, but I believe the Meade eyepieces with case (7 or 8 of
them) are a better buy. Not sure, however, if you can buy the Meade
eyepieces without buying a telescope.

It's well worth the cost, but Amazon has been severely backordered. I
bought mine from another store (JandR.com). Unfortunately, their price on
the kit has gone up.

To put the price in perspective, the 32mm Plossl retails for about $60 when
sold alone (often under a different brand name). That lens, plus the case
and the Celestron filters are probably worth over $100. THe Barlow's good,
too!.

Yes, it took 3 months to being finally shipped! Of course, I ordered that
three months ago and my order finally was shipped last week and arrived
here...

Glad you got your kit. Pretty nice for the price, IMNSHO.

But at least I don't have to wait so long...

True. Consider the extra charge as priority shipping and handling.

You didn't get "ripped." You still got some decent eyepieces, filters, a
barlow, a nice case and all at a very good price.
