Umm .. thought the San Jacintos were West and the Santa Rosas South and
Southwest.

I just tried with my 15x70s but no dice. Pretty hazy in the West one
mile from the Pacific.

BTW .. what direction did it set, Florian? Santa Rosas makes me think
WSW vs W.

Mt. San Jacinto is the northern-most peak of the Santa Rosa mtns. (I =
think.) I didn't specifically say Mt. San Jacinto since i can't see the =
peak from my house.=20

Venus is following the sun by about 20 minutes and just a bit south. So =
if you note where the sun sets you'd look above and to the left to find =
Venus. I watched where the sun went behind the mtn ridge and found Venus =
about 15 minutes later a bit left of that point.

Excellent, man!

Now us poor souls in the NE US can send you all the stinkin' cloud
cover up here, and see Venus for ourselves. We were just waiting for
someone down thataways to say that!
