Default Anyone have a link to a head lamp with red lights?

I was trying to find a head lamp (straps around your head) with red lights
but could not find any on the web. I could buy a regular white light one
and modify it but was thinking it would be easier if I could just find one
already set up.

Thanks,

Look for a Mag Lite with a head strap. Sorry, I don't have a link to where
it can be found, but that's what I use some of the time.

Petzl makes a model called the Tikka. It's an LED headlamp. Comes with a
clear plastic lens, but you can also order red and green replacement
lenses. May be too bright for astronomy use.

I was at a star party over the weekend and saw something like this (not sure
if this is the exact one though):

http://tinyurl.com/sjb9

Available at Lowes. Not sure if you are in the U.S. though. I'm heading to
my local one this week to get one. It was nice because the first click on
brings up the red "nightvision" light first and not the bright white one
which would be most convienient for observing.

A couple weeks ago, I saw a bunch (and bought one) at WalMart. They were the
LED type and cost about $7.

Glenn-
I just bought one a few weeks ago at Walmart, if you happen to have
one near you. I tried looking on their website, but don't seem to be
able to find it. Mine has a switch that pushes one direction for red
light, and the other direction for white light.

Although a head lamp might be convenient, I can't imaging using a
light without a dimmer control for astronomy.

I was reading in the bathroom when I ran across an item written by

Dick's Sporting Goods has a model that cycles between red, blue and
"normal." $20.

I have one of these, and I still haven't been able to pry out the white lens to
replace it with the red one. But maybe it doesn't matter. The white light has
been a great convenience for setting up/tearing down my scope in the dark. No
more holding a flashlight in my teeth to free up both hands.
