Default Spanner Wrenches?

Hello gang,
I have an eyepiece with a bit of flotsam on an interior lens surface.
Looking at the underside with the barrel removed there are two round shallow
holes which I'm guessing are for a spanner wrench. Where do I find such a
wrench? Do they come in different sizes? Is the wrench that works on the
round holes suitable for use with the slotted collars too?

Thanks!
Ed

Ed,

Make your own wrenches, it's really quite easy. First take a trip to you
local hardware store and buy a few nails with a diameter about equal to the
holes. Next, measure the dimension between these two holes and record.
Find a suitable piece of wood (to act as the wrench) and drill two undersize
holes spaced to match the dimension you previousely measured. Finally, cut
the nails down, clean up with a file and lightly pound into holes
previousely drilled. Have fun!

Or, more professional way:

I gave once in the old days the SGP model to Al Misiuk, you can ask him how it
worked for him.

Ed,
Believe it or not, those pieces of flotsam won't effect your image quality
very much, if at all. If I were you, I would just ignore them, unless they are
so huge that they actually show up. I built one ep that ended up with some
metal shavings that appeared after I assembled it. It didn't effect the image
quality at all.

sale).

I wouldn't worry about the "bits of flotsam." An inexpert attempt to remove
them may inflict far more damage than they do to the image, which is essentially
zero.. Besides, you *will* get more flotsam with time -- I guarantee it -- and
you'll sleep better if you just learn to live with it. For the record, though,
here's one source for genuine spanner wrenches for working on optics:
www.micro-tools.com. And, of course, there's the old reliable, Edmund
Scientifics at scientificsonline.com (no "www").
