I have purchased 2 of these from Larry Hardin himself for a project. They
appear to have good optics and good qc. I will contact Hardin Optical about the altitude bearings allowing the tubes to always raise to the zenith (mirror end heavy) above about 40 degrees elevation. This problem may well have been addressed here before, but I would be grateful if you could repost your ideas and solutions. I would also like to mention I think Hardin Optical is a very nice operation with many really high end products coming in the near future. Larry took me on a tour of his plant and I found out he had worked for Tom Cave and new him and Alika Herring personally. Larry is the proud owner of E. Kreimer's 121/2" Cave witch took so many beautiful astro-photos over the past 30 or more years. |

I also found out that a little electrical tape on the declination bearings can
do the trick!...simple, yet effective...Hardin recommended. |

I found that the two teflon pads was too low and i placed it higher, 1 cm below the center. Now it1s rock solid in all positions even with a 2" eyepiece. -- lorian |
