I hate to cast aspersions at a good friend of mine who is currently a
preacher, but do you think a person could be a scientist for many
years at NASA and have never heard of Isaac Asimov? This seems like
arguing against the existence of brilliant atheists a little too far
But it could be I suppose Asimov is not as universaly known in the
space community as I thought..........Nah

Sure, if the person is not a recreational reader. Some people just
aren't interested in fiction, and a great many more don't give a hoot
about science fiction.

Or perhaps....

1) Maybe they forgot all the Asimov they read because of the dark madness
induced during the once in a 1000 year solar alignment?

2) a) A human being shall worship God.
b) A human being shall obey the word of the Holy Bible
unless it violates rule A.
c) A human being shall protect itself from alien ideas
unless it conflicts with rule B or rule A.

3) [My favorite]: The 'machines' have not yet completely eliminated Asimov
from our time-line but they are getting there and the rest are dying off.
