Hard to believe! It seems that 2 off topic threads (which were really the
same thread), had more than twice as many posts as the most posted astronomy thread. Al "Trane Francks" wrote in message ... Something's funny here, or my filters have AI. I don't remember seeing many of these purportedly common threads appearing on SAA. Could it be that the stats include the listed related groups? It's 1984 and I just threw out all my Duran Duran CDs. I'm kidding of course, Duran Duran music always induced the dry heaves in me. Just like Bon Jovi, and virtually everything else with an 80s vintage. Although I wouldn't say no to a vintage A-P refractor. Needless to say but the most active topics do not reflect very positively on the group as a whole, but the nice thing about report cards is that they can serve as reminders to do better. Kudos to Jon and Rod, though. You boys kick some serious ASCII! There's no lurker information, however. Also, "Big Brother" is so very, very blase. 'Tis now...THE MATRIX! Bill Gates's an "agent." Hard to believe! It seems that 2 off topic threads (which were really the same thread), had more than twice as many posts as the most posted astronomy thread. This is a good thing, and it is a big part of what keeps SAA effective. There is a low percentage of off-topic threads (even if some of those generate the most overall traffic). Of course, it is as easy to ignore a thread with 1000 follow ups as it is one with two or three. What would suck the group down would be lots of individual off-topic threads, making it difficult to extract the topical nuggets. Luckily, nothing like that has happened. Indeed, for those so inclined, it takes just a few well designed filters to eliminate virtually _all_ the non-topical posts. I don't think there are many popular NGs you can say that for. _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com |
