Default NY area weather forecast

If you live in the area, you already know that someone up there doesn't like
us. We had 2 clear nights (but lousy seeing) in the past 8 days, but the
party has ended. The area forecast is clouds and rain until next Friday.
It may stop raining when we have another full moon.

Default NY area weather forecast

Hi Bill,

Thanks to the great weather, I haven't had too many opportunities to view
this year, so work (my day job and making tripods) is my only salvation.
Regarding my next project...check my web page in about 30 days.

BTW, I hope the weather has been better for you than it has been for us here
in the east. Thanks to SAA, I get a vicarious thrill by occasionally
reading an observation report.

Hi Al,

I guess that'll give you plenty of time to construct those great wood
tripods that your putting out to replace
the inadequate aluminium ones that came with the CG5-Vixen mounts. I hope
that everyone using said mounts
knows about your upgrades and...I gotta ask ya....what's next in your
project list?

Best regards,
Bill

Will do. Should be very interesting and to the backyard observers'
advantage.
Btw, I've had decent weather but the workload....oy vey. Too pooped to look.
The future
*does* look promising though.(workwise)

I observed Mars a couple of days ago and tried some imaging with my digital
camera. It was quite impromtu
so the scope(the 4" Quantum) wasn't cooled down and I think I overexposed
Mars(1/4 sec shutter speed) but the end
result, after using histogram function in Paintshop Pro, was very close to
what I was seeing using my Radian 18mm.
I had fun viewing and processing so I consider the whole event a success.

Best regards,
Bill

You're probably correct about the forecast. Yet we ARE xamining
Mars regularly every chance we can. The planet is bright enough to
punch thru medium thick haze.
One thing we note is that the air is generally very still and
stable, allowing higher magnifications.
In a day or two I'll ppost the September NYC Events column, loaded
with all sorts of astro things to do in the NYC region, regardless of
weather. In gact, you may HOPE for cloudy skies once in a while to
enjoy these events!
