For those of you who are clouded in Jan-March like us Puget Sound
observers, may I recommend you pre order Ferris' newest book. I just put my order in and will devour it when I receive it. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/529c55fe-0...44feabdc0.html Also if you saw the movie "Seeing in the Dark" but neglected to read the book, may I recommend you read it this winter. The original release of the book was of the same name, but it had been subtitled "How Amateur Astronomers Are Discovering the Wonders of the Universe". New editions dropped the subtitle, but I loved it. The movie is just a very short teaser for the book. I've read it three times. The Boeing Employees' Astronomical Society has given it away to a dozen BEAS speakers and guests. Everyone of them has loved it. What's your favorite chapter/selection? |
