How about a 6 inch f12 or f15 D&G with a Chromacor?
How should that perform? Using the Chromacor, would the f15 have any advantage over the f12? I'm having some very un-Shawn-like thoughts. On the other hand, Shawn might appove, in comparison to a 6" Tak or AP in cost. Doug Hosey |

Hi Doug, I've never really heard any bad news about the D+G Scopes.
Optics supposedly are very smooth, and well figured, and assembled. Should be considerably better than what Meade, and Celestron are offering from China. The only downside with the long FL Achromats is there long length, which will place considerable torque load demands upon a lesser mount, even though they are not all that heavy in weight. Should Valery supply a correct Chromacorr combo suitable for the D+G, it seems to be a very nice refractor set-up, at a reasonable cost. Checking the D+G site not long ago, I see that D+G now uses an AP 2.7" Focuser with thier Refractors. This is a tremendous plus. As we all know, a good Telescope (Of any type) is very hindered, and miserable to use, if the Focuser is poor, sloppy, and cannot achive good precise focus repeatedly. The AP Unit will achieve this without a problem, and should compliment the good D+G lens. No Feathertouch 2-speed Option should be needed at either F-12, or F-15 with the AP 2.7". Mark |

(Doogie Hoosier) wrote in message om... Valery, Does that mean that an f8 Synta with a Chromacor would be better than an f12 D&G with Chromacor? Doug Dough, More or less equal. So, from practical point of view F/8 is better (obvious advantages in length, portability, mount requirement). However, D&G is well known as a company with excellent quality of their scopes. So, I can't give you a final answer. Here you can decide yourself. I am quite satisfied with the results which Chromacor gives with 6" F/8 Celestron. V.D. Thanks Valery. Doug |
