Hi AC, I do not look favorably upon the merging of predictions and retrodictions as evidenced in your term "retroprediction". In science I think one can and must separate the two. As you mention, the referenced research could retrodict the currently known value for the proton mass, and then, in principle, validly predict a more refined value that could be tested when experimental capabilities improve enough for such a test. But at present they are most definitely testing retrodictions. I can get the same results in about a half-hour of hand calculations using Wheeler's geometrodynamics form of the Kerr- Newman solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations. The trick is that you have to know the correct value for the gravitational coupling factor that applies in the case of the proton. Yours in science, Knecht www.amherst.edu/~rloldershaw |
