Default The Hubble Palette and the Amateur Astronomer

Combining images from narrowband filters is often done using the
Hubble tri-colour palette, in which SII, Ha, and OIII are assigned to
R, G, and B, respectively. I took this image in 2006 with 20 minutes
exposure per filter from a remote access observatory in New Mexico.

That'll be from when you tried to con people into giving you money for
rentascope on the narrowbandimaging yahoo group, will it? When you
and your friend Hannah from Eire claimed to have set up a group and
tried to ask for others to help fund the filter use at the robotic
telescopes, except Hannah wasn't in Dublin, as she was posting to
yahoo groups from the self same modem you were.

Not quite as well known as the nova scam that one.

No, not narrowbandimaging, that is a legit group it seems, so
apologies to them, but your yahoo group narrowband.

Of course since all that was pointed out on these forums you've had
sense to go and shut that group down so the facts are hidden

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/narrowband/messages

You can't shut down yahoo group vsx discussion though, and Hannah
Varley and you have the same IP address on old posts on that, that is
used same modem, and also on old aavso discussion posts there's you
and one or two people who are you yet again, or maybe you're just so
philanthropic you like to share your modem with people from all over
the world, apparently including those who were currently in Oz or US
the same day you posted. They must have very long arms.

If you are so skilled, get your data together and make a JAAVSO
submission and submit your new variables. Or wouldn't a former
teacher, and IT teach as you claim, know how to report a report on a
wordprocessor? It's harder than just freeform writing and whining on
blogs and forums.

John Greaves = advicegiven lacks the resources to make any
astronomical observations of his own and so he is reduced to shouting
his paranoid delusions from the sidelines. Believe me, many of us have
tried hard to deal calmly and rationally with his continuous
outpouring of abuse, but now there is a higher priority than being
polite: ensuring that his delusions are not accepted as truth. Not
answering them incurs the risk that some readers may think that his
points are unanswerable and that amateur astronomy actually rests on
fragile foundations - just as Greaves pretends!

The Greaves FAQ is nearing completion. Although in the first instance
this was time-consuming to create it will pay for itself within a
month or two (or even within a week or two). Nor is it as difficult to
write as it may first appear because his current content is restricted
to a fairly small number of fallacies. This means that any time a new
posting appears it is not too difficult for a user to identify which
answer is appropriate.
