Default Edwards it Is

CALIFORNIA BOUND. Uncooperative weather at the space shuttle homeport in
Florida yesterday and again today has left entry flight director Norm Knight
no choice but divert Atlantis' landing to the backup site at Edwards Air
Force Base in California, where conditions are favorable for the craft's
return to Earth this afternoon.

Touchdown on the concrete Runway 22 is expected at 3:49 p.m. EDT to conclude
the two-week flight of STS-117.
