Default Anyone watching Mira?

I haven't seen any comments on Mira's brightness this maximum.

I don't have an ideal sky, considering Mira's low sunset altitude and the
glow of Philadelphia to the west. But with binoculars and star hopping,
I've been able to spot it through the haze several evenings, and it appears
unusually bright - similar to what I remember from, I think, 1997 when it
was much better positioned. My guess is that it has been about the equal of
alpha Ceti.

Any other observations?

Charlie

Lots of 'em at the AAVSO site.

You are correct that it became unusually bright. It is currently
declining, but it touched 2nd magnitude, which is similar to several
other maxima in over a century of observations.
