Default Cost approaches SEI

Juding from http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/54873main_bu...rt_14jan04.pdf

The cost to complete the ISS (for the US) is about $60B, this includes
the Space Shuttle and ISS transport budgets as their only reason to
continue is to support the ISS.

The cost of the exploration initiative to initial moon base in 2020
is about $170B.

Cost from 2020 to first Mars landing probably about 2030, about $150B.

So for $380B you get significantly less than under the SEI, but for
not much less money and 20 years later.

No, you get significantly more. Instead of a flags & footprints mission
to Mars, you get infrastructure on and around the Moon. The lifting of
the Moon-taboo alone is well worth it.
