Default Lost Almost

sometime around 9am today I was taken via the local meat wagon to the AV
hospital as I didn't even know what date or day it was, my blood suger was
almost 0 and I was heading for a total shut down. I got out of the ER by 1pm
as they had pumped me full of a iv with suger mix and I had eaten before
leaving. Got home by hich hicking by 3pm and this cold spell we're in has me
hurting, I feel every joint in my body telling me about the cold, I had to
light my gas heater and set it at 70 and it's not shut off in the last 3
hours. So on monday I've got to see my doc and get him to sign a deal for me
to get more blood testing supplys as I'm going to have to test 2 times a day
instead of just once.

It's 3:40am right now, I got about 2 hours of sleep kind of, never really a
full deep sleep, as I set my heater to just about 65F and that means once an
hour it shuts off for maybe 10 mins and even those low temps are playing
h*ll with my joints, got to take some more asprin and see if another 2 hours
of sleep will come my way, gas bill for Dec which will be added to Jan07
rent will be high.

Hi Dennis:

Been there (during the lean years, long time ago, but I've been
there)...one thing I used to do was use an electric blanket...you can
keep it warm enough to keep you toasty in bed with the heat turned
down, and you will find it really won't draw enough current to make
your electric meter go crazy.

ya, I've got one but I was on the downward fall since sunday and as such I
wasn't thinking right at times so I've got to dig it out and clean it and
then use it.

I just had another 3 hours of sleep but the temp outside is 20F and for me
and my old bones that's a pain in the you know where.

Hi Dennis,

I had a hypoglycemic incident myself a few years ago. A combination of not
eating all day followed by heavy excercise and dehydration on top of it. I
passed out and regained conciousness in the ambulence on the way to the
hospital. Follow the advice of you doctor and don't do anything silly like
I did ;0).

As my diabetic younger brother once told me - high blood sugar might
kill you tomorrow but low blood sugar can kill you today. It's tough
when your body quits running on automatic and you have to manage your
blood sugar yourself.

I've been using a test meter now for 6 years and been controling it via
pills, but this cold wave came in sooner than normal and as it was towards
the end of the month, I was down to counting my lose change for anything,
yest I did eat ground turkey the night before, but nothing much with it for
any taste, and this is what happened, in fact I'm not even sure I had the
turkey on tueday night or monday night, with the cold coming in I was
already hurting and things just fell into a tight orbit around a Black Hole.

Now if the post office would just get my ebay camera to me I'd be in
brighter lights.

Starlord:

While we have never met, I have followed your musings on this NG for
several years and have the deepest, sincere respect for you.

I don't know what your medical routine is -- but -- get an appointment
with your doc, ask that he draw blood -- tell him you want:
-- a CA-15 blood test
-- a liver enzyme test
-- check your bilorubin
-- and, an ultrasound of your pancreas.

He may **** and moan about the CA-15 but remind him that you are the
patient and you are the one who ultimately decides your own care.

Medicare/Medicaid will pay for these tests.

Are you experiencing:
-- abdominal pain just below the breastbone?
-- diarrhea?
-- loss of weight?
-- loss of appetite?
