During his campaign speech, Clark made indirect reference to reports that
Bush plans to return U.S. astronauts to the moon. ''I see a country that can produce great scientists and engineers,'' Clark told the crowd. ''We've already been to the moon. We did it.'' Afterward, he told reporters, ''We need to get America pointed into the future on the things that represent the future in this country.'' http://www.tennessean.com/government...html?Element_I D=43713035 -- Mark R. Afterward, he told reporters, ''We need to get America pointed into the future on the things that represent the future in this country.'' Clark obviously needs a bit of work on his rhetorical capabilities. The first comment was a bit obscure. Does he mean that he wants to do something bigger, like a Mars expedition or does he mean that going back to the moon is not worth it? The remark to the reporters almost sounds like "the future is ahead of us" although if you want to give him credit he probably means that we should point America at some future goal that is important to the country. The Democratic party is in great need of a President Bush verbal gaffe. Bush has done it in the past, but has been a bit more careful lately. Mike Walsh |

Walsh made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a way as to indicate that: The remark to the reporters almost sounds like "the future is ahead of us" although if you want to give him credit he probably means that we should point America at some future goal that is important to the country. Well, better than "the future is behind us," I guess. |
