Default An Opinion on Space/Science Ethics

Please excuse me for this totally unstructured argument... here goes:

There's no proof of any life anywhere else... and if we're the only life, as
in all life on Earth, then we certainly wouldn't want life to become
extinct...

I'm not sure I want 'value by rarity' to be the measure used.

When it turns out the universe is hip-deep in intelligent life-forms I don't
that being used as an excuse for the construction of a hyperspatial
express route where Earth used to be.
