HELP SMITHSONIAN CHOOSE A BRAND-NEW LOGO -- Selection Based on Its Scientific Integrity -- Evolution -- I'll Be a Monkey's Uncle

Unless you've been out of the country -- for example,
in Zulu Land or deep in the interior of Antarctica -- you certainly
should be aware that the Smithsonian Institution has been
running a year-long poll to determine its new logo.

Lawrence Small, Secretary (The Big Cheese), has informed
me that the choices now boil down to just two, and said he
has been very impressed with all of the entries that had been
submitted.

The winning logo must exemplify the standards of scientific
principals to which the Smithsonian has long clung (despite
the accusation by one Ed Conrad that, in the matter of a search
for true answers to man's origin and ancestry, it's phonier than
a $4 bill).

In any event, the time has come to have a runoff between the
two logo finalist candidates and every vote will count. Simply
email the Smithsonian with your choice, either No. 1 or No. 2.
