Of course, one *could* have sent an unmanned lander to the Moon with
retroreflectors on it without sending astronauts.

But the Moon rocks, investigated by thousands of geologists worldwide,
*corresponding* to rocks picked up on film by astronauts, and clearly
being *from the Moon* and *carefully selected*, unlike the ones from the
Lunokhod missions, are, all by themselves, as good a proof that the
Apollo missions really happened as anything.
